Reminded me of "Layer Cake"
This movie reminded me of "Layer Cake".
sharei can see why you say that. a bit
they are both about the same skullduggery subculture in london, and the cutting is kindof similar in ways.
i like this whole film, but i dig the early scenes in spain before logan arrives. i adore the life he is living there with dede in that cool house, sun every day, lacadaisical hunting trips or afternoon limonado on the veranda, cookouts by the pool at night, etc etc
it's so idyllic i still hate to see don logan arrive each time i rewatch it lol
but then for me the london sequence was well done too, and so edgy and taught, with teddy suspicious the whole time.
and they both have reluctant protagonists who resent the same business that they are experts in.
yeah i guess there are some similarities. but mostly in the style, is what i think you meant.

Life is not a problem to be solved, it's a mystery to be lived... so live it!
layer cake struck me a guy ritchie rip-off. it was well done but not particularly interesting (and i'm not a fan of ritchie)
sexy beast is its own movie, and far superior.
Not that I agree that Layer Cake was a Guy Ritchie rip off, the Director of Layer Cake, Matthew Vaughn was the Producer on both Lock Stock & Snatch and those films really gave him his start.
Ritchie's 2 films are straight black comedies and shot completely differently with a different vibe to Layer Cake. The only obvious similarities are it's subject matter and obviously where it takes place. It's akin imo to saying that Rocky's a rip off of Raging Bull.
Saying that I love Sexy beast, it's a great film, Although I don't agree it's far superior to any of the films mentioned above. Sexy Beast along with Snatch, Lock Stock, Long Good Friday, Get Carter, RocknRolla, Gangster No. 1, Layer Cake & Legends are my favorite British gangster Films off the top of my head.
To the OP, imo no Layer Cake is nothing like Sexy Beast.
