Films like 'sexy beast'

This genre is always successful with british directors! I would say that "snatch",
layer cake, rocknrolla, lock stock and two smoking barrels, all of them somewhat reminds me of sexy beast.

any other suggestions!

Might be a dumb suggestion but have you tried Quentin Tarantino?

Not dumb at all! :) Yes, i have watched almost all of QTs films and I agree they give a helluva similar vibe.
also, layer cake, lock stock, rocknrolla, snatch, give a similar vibe. I just love these movies.
Perhaps I missed some that are similar and you and our friends here can suggest :)

Try "Get Carter", the original Michael Caine film, not the awful American remake. It's a bit bleak but it is so good.

"The Long Good Friday" is a terrific movie and Bob Hoskins gives a superb performance in it.
