That was Floy'd point. That's why he opened up the pool. Because the theme was Titanic Dremas and he wanted people to fall in.

to FortuneFaded: I must have missed the part where he carefully planned it out because all I recall was he was absolutely smashed drunk and then on a whim decided to open up the pool to be an anti-prom dork lol
Not to mention the fact that 'Titanic' is a real word, with a real meaning, such as "LARGE", "BIG". ... Big Dreams..Titanic Dreams..
I didn't watch the entire film so I am not sure if the theme of the prom specifically related to THE Titanic ship that sank or if they were using the word as an adjective.

They had icebergs around the floor, and a giant picture of the Titanic. There was even a steering wheel.
The fact that Floyd and the others bring the railing in show that he planned it out. Even before the prom, when he finds out what the theme is... you can see him thinking.
I don't think he was drunk. You don't even see him drinking. He smashes a bottle against the button to open the floors.
He also watches everything with glee, and is happy to be arrested, as his idol was. So, it was planned out.
