I liked this movie, too...I just cracked up when Ryan (Shane West) started playing his accordian and dancing around in his room with nothing but his boxers on.

It's actually a reworking of Cyrano de Bergerac with modern technology i.e. internet, phones. The best friends Emma storyline was also used for a happy ending as Cyrano didn't get the girl (he died soon after he declared his love).

i liked it when i was 15.
it has some talented actors (james franco, colin hanks, marla sokolof) and good music (eels, leona naess).
but on the commentary of freaks and geeks , james franco says how embarrassed he is of it.

but its cute in a crappy way, if you think of it in terms of a satire instead of an actual story.
i.e. james franco= jock?
shane west= nerd?

but in terms of actual positives, it lacks. but of course it does. its a teen movie.

I loved this movie, it's one of my all time favorites. The first time I rented it I watched it three times in the first day, and many times since then. Of course it's a stupid movie, but that doesn't mean it isn't funny. You definitely have to be in the right mood to watch it though, otherwise it gets boring.

I thought it was kind of cheesy but still funny. Its a typical teen movie but the best part was when he they openened up the pool at prom to "sink the Titanic" LOL

I agree. I thought it was really funny and the story was predictable but good. I loved the whole James-Franco-in-a-thong part, haha. It's a good movie to rent if you just want a few laughs, I think.

I don't understand how anyone ever assumed this to be a good idea to make into a film... Or how any producer gave money to procude this piece of crap.. No offence, it was just awful. Everything about it was cheesy. Amazingly predictable, absolutely lacking in any kind of humour, the script was horrifying.. Anyway, I've wasted too much energy writing about it already.

Good grief...can't anyone just see movies for what they are anymore?
They're for fun. For people to enjoy. If there are people who enjoyed it, who are you to go on about the direction, writing, or whatever else? I like a good script as much as the next person, but sometimes it's okay for a movie to just be a movie.

I watched it on TV yesterday because I was bored. I had seen the movie before and remember thinking it was kinda dumb, but there are 2 hot guys in it so I decided to watch it again. It's funny and entertaining, even though it's also kind of retarded. I thought it was the gayest thing when Ryan told Chris to say something like, "Sometimes the best things in life can't be understood. Like rainbows and flowers....." OMG, what girl would fall for that. That's cheesy and corny to the thousandth degree.

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Part of that is because I loved Cyrano de Bergerac. Actually, most of it is because of my love for the big-nosed Frenchman.

I only wish they'd stayed truer to the play. They coulda had a lot of fun...especially with the war towards the end.

All in all, a good movie, though. I wish I hadn't come in when it was halfway over.

Yeah, this movie was stupid, but that's what made it so funny.
i mean when they were at that assembly and shane west's mom was talking to them about safe sex.
and when Cosmo showed up at the party with a suit on.
and of course the whole "titanic" thing.
now i wanna watch this movie. hah.
and maggie annoyed me too. i was like "K, stfu now. you're annoying."
i think i'm gonna rent this now.

i like this film too. its cute and funny.

i love how james francos character says "show them some attitude, gratitude guh" that line is too funny and how he spells conceited wrong - conceeded.

and shane west in his furby shirt. and ''i love the cake'' and how colin hanks'character tells his date ''women and children first'at the prom, haha. there are so many funny moments in this film.

This was one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. You can't argue how funny it was throughout all of it. Yes it was stupid, but that is what makes it great. This is the type of movie that Anchorman is but no one complains about that movie.
