Similar shows?

Has anybody watched any similar shows to Roswell? It doesn't have to be about aliens, just the max/liz aspect, the mystery and or sci-fi aspect along with the humour and drama that made Roswell the show it was.

Granted, season 3 was a little silly but season 1 and 2 were so great, the first season still makes me giddy when I watch the first few scenes in the cafe.

I loved Alias - it had the love interest, family, CIA and a mystery that was weird but still great.

The 4400 - mystery and sci-fi (ish) - very good show but it had the misfortune of the writers strike and never really went anyway after that - show was cancelled.

If you like sci-fi and you haven't already watched it - I'd say Battlestar Galactica (reboot) - it has love shows, mystery, and a little something extra to it that I can't explain.

Smallville was very similar in the beginning. It bothered me so much how much it was like Roswell though I stopped watching. This was around the time Roswell was canceled for the second time and after the third season I guess I just wanted more Roswell. Anyhoo, as someone else mentioned the beginning of Buffy was similar also. But Roswell was a unique and I dare say, magical show that honestly I haven't really seen one like since then. Not with the whole, supernatural/romance/suspense/angle. Someone once said it was like The X Files met My-So-Called Life, in Roswells "peak" I can say that was SPOT ON. I would love to watch a show like this again. But I have yet to find any.

Liz: I guess this is goodbye. Just tell me one thing. Do you love her?
Max: Not like I love you.

Star-crossed is the only show I can think of that's similar too Roswell, but sadly it was cancelled.
