"Off The Menu" from S.2 felt so tacked on & random...

So the majority of the end of the second season was a hot mess in all honesty, but I really took issue with this episode & it's placement in the season.

Firstly w get a 3 episode arc of Liz going all nazi-detective & alienating everyone while trying to solve Alex's supposed murder & it never even materializes & is left kind of inconclusive with her, Michael & Maria finding the key to the alien book & the crystal dildo etc. & Max sobbing about his unborn baby maybe dying due to Earth's atmosphere. Heavy stuff.

Then in the very next episode we have Max just whistling along at his night job like everything is fine & Liz back to being a normal teen waitress like the last few eps never happened.
& the only indication we have that this ep is in sequence & not just shoved into the end of the season as if it had been filmed prior & then forgotten/lost is the absence of Alex & the obvious wedge of animosity between Max & Liz.
I'm not even going to get into the plot of the ep itself(Brody going nuts & holding the gang hostage) because as a stand-alone ep I take no issue with it.

& back to that 3 ep arc. We never see Max & Liz discuss their pretty heated fight right before she leaves for Sweden which kind of annoyed me as well. I know that we only see 43 minutes of these people's lives per week but this was pertinent to the plot as these are the 2 main characters/soulmates/the driving force of this show & their relationship takes a really serious beating & to just leave it wounded like that irritates me.

So yeah, this episode just puzzled me to no end.
Thoughts?

I found this explication online : "This episode was a wee bit disconcerting, mainly for the reason that it happened out of the timeline established by the show. It happened while Alex was still alive and before Max and Tess hooked up. Why they didn’t air it before now is odd, but whatever. Hollywood does whatever the heck it wants, doesn’t it? I must say, for a positive aspect, they didn’t have me confused as to what time or day it was, so good for them!"

So basically the episode was supposed to air before "Heart of mine" but it didn't.

This episode was supposed to air after 'Viva Las Vegas', but apparently there had been a hostage situation in the US involving kids at that time, so they pushed the episode down out of respect for what happened.
