Any others that don't like the Max + Liz 24/7?

I just recently picked up the show on Netflix and am midway through S2. I was not too enthusiastic about Liz and Max from the start, at least not like most of the fans from what I've read. I think the show had such potential, but it's too dramatized on their relationship and it gets old. For example, every decision Max makes is in relevance to he and Liz. I noticed that during S1, and I'm continuing to see it occur over and over. On a side note, I am a Tess fan. I would've liked to see her character written better. I also wish there was more drama with the whole Max/Tess meant to be bit, instead of it never being a worry because in each episode Liz & Max were shown some version of love with each other. I am admitting to liking Tess more than Liz, mainly I don't care too much for Shiri, but none of that clouds my judgement concerning the overly portrayed romanticism between L/M. Am I seriously the only fan of the actual show, or the show's potential, and not just of the main love interest???

Raise hand

Their relationship got tiresome for me, that it took me years to finish watching season 1 and then starting season 2. Also took me some years before I could start season 3, and now Im currently finishing the third season. I dont mind Max/Liz as the seasons go along, they become more involved and interact with other people in the cast, so it helps. The relationships between the aliens, aliens/humans, humans/humans is the best thing about this show not the L/M romantic drama.

The problem I think is that the fellow that plays Max is such a limited actor. It's at least possible that the ups and downs of the relationship would have been more interesting if his face were not made of stone and his voice not a monotone mumble.

I quite frankly think the Liz/Max connection was the glue of the show and brought everything else together. Now of course I liked the other characters as well, they all brought something tangible. But I personally thought the Liz/Max angst was off the charts, explosive even. Michael was the bad boy, Maria and Alex were comic relief for example and Izzy was a bit of a beast but you need characters like that adding conflict. It was a great show, but I personally thought Season 1 was the quality season, the second season was still decent but not as good as the first, and the third season really fell off.

Roswell reminds me of My So Called Life---quality first season and NOBODY recognized how good the show was soon enough!!!! My So Called Life was cancelled immediately and Roswell was revamped(boo hoo)It was unfortunate!

I watched it back when it aired. I actually came into the show in the last two seasons but since they showed reruns, I got to see the other seasons too. I agree about Max and Liz, they bothered me too.

I'm only in the middle of episode 2 and already bored by them, lol. I watched this show a long time ago when it was fresh and have fond memories of it, so I decided to rewatch. But man, I really don't like Liz (nor Shiri's acting), and the romance between her and Max is already putting me off. They don't have any chemistry imo, at least none that I can feel.

Were we watching the same show?! I guess it's a matter of opinion but I don't know how anyone could say those two didn't have any chemistry. The episode Sexual Healing... Holy *beep*

IKR?!

I still get embarrassed when watching "Sexual Healing" with my mom, and I'm grown. 

Haha I hear ya! I'll be by myself while watching it and feel uncomfortable.... There's just so much damn heat between those two.

Sexual tension is not all there is to the chemistry of the relationship, and even that was so full silly high school dramatization. They are dead to me. Was not the best part of the show at all.

I can't stand Max and Liz. Jason Behr was like in his mid 20s trying to play 16, which he interpreted as innocent, shy and very, very one note. I can't stand how he always shows up below her balcony. It's all about Michael and Maria.
