Why did real mom give him up?
I never understood that part of the movie (in the very beginning) when she places her baby on the boat.
Why couldn't she just keep him? And who is the father?
A fisherman started to chase her with a boat, so she probably wanted the baby to out of harms way when she went and beached the boat. She did return for her baby, but unfortunately by that time the boat had docked and the baby was taken to dry land. The father is probably some merman.
