Didn't cry in 2001, but in 2012 i did.

When it came out, in 2001, i was around 20, didn't know anything about
kids, i just thought of the characters Sulley & Wazowski, and at the end
the whole goodbye scene didn't catch my attention.

NOW

11 years later, i have a niece that reminds me of Boo, and my niece loves
being around me & always loves me.

I watched "Monsters Inc" cause i haven't seen it in years, and when i
saw the scene at the end, my sister looked at me and said "are you crying"
I didn't realized that i had tears in my eyes, i tried to hold it in, but
i couldn't help it, haha.

Aww, that's sweet, lol. Tell her you're not crying you just have something in your eye. That is a sad scene though. Boo is so adorable and when she goes to the closet door and says "Boo!" fully expecting Sully to be there, it just gets to me when she looks surprised. "Kitty?"

*cries*

I don't remember crying when it came out, but it was on this w/e and I bawled at the end.

Thats the key. If the film can evoke some memory of a person you know and love, it is quite powerful. Without that, I can see how the emotional aspects of the plot would fall flat.

I cry every time I watch this. I was about ten when this came out and it was the first film I saw in the cinema.
I was so excited when it came out in 3D in 2012! I work in a cinema now so I would sometimes watch little bits of the movie and remember how much I love this movie. I'd always have to rush out towards the end because I could feel myself tearing up. It gets to me a lot more now, I'm not exactly sure why. Everybody has at least one Disney film that makes them cry, and this is my one.

Aww. Pixar films make me well up in general. Both the goodbye scene and the last line with 'Kitty?' had me in tears.
