Kidnapping children

This struck me as strange. Why should Sully or the CDA be concerned about kidnapping children? After all, children are simply a source of energy. Wouldn't it be to their advantage economically to do just that, to ensure they have a viable and constant energy source?

They're monsters, Boo is human. I can't see why the monsters would have empathy with humans, as its their job to scare them and they demonize them constantly. Of course it took Sully the course of the movie to learn to love Boo and she him.

But why would the CDA feel it necessary to stop Waternoose? I'm sure if he lobbied whatever Government the monsters have he could have been authorized to kidnap as many children needed to lift the scream shortage.

Why do people empathize with cows and chickens? After all, they are just food sources.

Why do we have regulations to ensure they aren't mistreated?

Even monsters have a basic humanity.

The CDA's concern had absolutely NOTHING to do with perceived cruelty to children; after all, THEY dealt with a human child by blowing up an entire building that they thought harbored a human child-not exactly "humane", is it? Their concern was for the safety of MONSTERS and their world, not the children! It was illegal to bring a human child into the Monster World because said child was believed to be extremely dangerous and a threat to all of monsterdom. Children were not even considered to be sapient beings, but merely lower animals, and most monsters thought of human children in the same way that most humans regard a highly venomous snake. It's very clear from Mike's repeatedly referring to Boo as "IT", and his statement, "just what I always wanted...a PET that can KILL ME", that he definitely didn't think of a human child as a "person". Even Sulley still treats her like an animal even discovering that she's not toxic, putting down newspapers on the floor for her like one would do for a stray puppy. Human kids just were no more than toxic, noxious, disgusting animals, albeit useful animals, to the monsters.

Plus if they did that eventually the adults could catch on and then every time a monster tried to come out of the closet it'd get an axe in the face.

It has nothing to do with the kids welfare. It's purely self preservation imo
