Question about another kid's show around this time

Around the time "Today's Special" was airing, there was another children's show I watched. I actually don't think it was a full series. More like something that would air in commercial breaks. It's hard to describe because it's still vague to be. The background was black. It was two puppets and I think one was a blue mattress and the other one, it seems, was either a pink pillow or blanket. Yes, you heard that correctly. That's all I have.

Ring a bell?

That sounds vaguely familiar, but I have no idea! Sorry! I have a similar fuzzy memory of a cartoon on Nickelodeon that was about a little boy and he had a big English sheepdog, and there was also a smaller dog who looked kind of like the sheepdog. Maybe the bigger dog was a St. Bernard, cause he was always getting the others out of troubles. Does that sound familiar at all? I looked for a lineup on Nickelodeon's old shows from the eighties, but so far no luck.

bliessis - that was Belle and Sebastian.

We used to make SO much fun of that show. (How many times can the kid fall off a freakin' cliff, already?!) But I sure loved Today's Special. It took me a week to remember the show's title.

Darn. I thought that was a link to the show I was referring to. ;(

I may have been part of "Pinwheel".

reply

I think it was part of Pinwheel, or like an emcee for the programs, similar to Moose A. Moose and Zee the bird on Noggin or Clay on PBSKids or Sprout or whatever he's on.
Gosh, remember all of those old shows? I'm having a flood of memories from 26 years ago - I feel so old!

The show you're looking for is called "Readalong." The only character's name I remember was the boot puppet. His name was "Boot." haha
I'm actually trying to find the name of a show that I used to watch on TVO. There were a couple of kids that did detective type work. They had a computer that either typed messages to them or talked to them. Anyone have any ideas as to what this show was called?

reply

I believe the one you're thinking of, Shelli, is "Ghostwriter".

reply

It's called read all about it
