Did Sam or didn't Sam sing "Ho Ho Ho and a bottle of rum!"?
I have that phrase stuck in my head and I can picture Sam singing to it.

No, that was Captain Haddock from "Tintin". Sam liked to sing a similar sailor song though called "Yo He Ho". Man, I really hope that this show gets its chance to come out of oblivion!
