Well they both deal with NYC firefighters and their profession but thats really the only comparison i would make. Third Watch has firefighters, EMTS and police. Third Watch also shifts the focus between the main characters (they did a better job of doing this in the first three seasons) where Rescue me for the most part focused on Tommy. Although certain Third Watch characters show signs of PTSD from 9.11 they do not see dead people like Tommy does.
So no I wouldn't say that Third Watch is anything like Rescue Me.
