Home Movies vs Lucy

Ok im in Canada so i didnt discover Home Movies to last year and I think its probably my favorite show ever but Ive watched the 1st season of Lucy a couple times now, and its basically Home Movies at a faster pace but without Brendon.

I think I like Lucy better now actually..only thing is I dont connect with the charectors like I do with Home Movies, and in particular Jason.

who really enjoys Lucy?? I think its hilarious, more so then Home Movies.

reply

Lucy just emulated Home Movies' style of conversational humor and added blood and gore to make up for the lack of original material.

Home Movies is hilarious and WAY BETTER than Lucy, Daughter of the Devil.

reply

Yeah, have to agree with this. HM all the way. Lucy is funny, but it also drags at times whereas Home Movies never bored me.

ah, want me to be a dumb guy?

reply

i disagree, i think its the opposite. Lucy seems to run at a faster pace then home movies.

The 4th season of Home Movies I think moved the pace along quicker.

are they any other shows I should watch? I have Dr.Katz here but i havent watched any episodes...

what do you guys think of Delocated? I think Eugene Mirman who of course does the voice of the hilarious Sister Mary in lucy plays basically himself, its pritty funny, some good lines.

did Mirman ever do anything with Home Movies?

reply

i also wonder the % of home movies fans who were avid Late Night with Conan O'Brien fans...probably a considerable proportion...

alot of similarities with Late Nights humor and Loren Bouchard/Brendon/H Jon/

aside: Isn't H. Jon Benjamin's comedy/stand-up partner a writer on Conan? Sorry don't know his name.

I actually found Lucy to be really good when I viewed it for a second time. Mirman is really great in it. I like Sam Seder in it as well, and of of course Jon and Melissa (Todd Barry is great too). The music is really good and the animation is original. Also I like how the opening credits are unique to each episode. The theme of the show is dark and relevant.

I think Lucy is remarkably good considering the time constraints. They did so much with eleven minutes without making it feel rushed or over stuffed.

I don't think its fair to compare it to Home Movies though. It really is completely different, and in a good way.

Of course I will watch Home Movies over Lucy any day, but there's no hope of Home Movies being made again whereas Lucy could still get a second season and I'm a total advocate of that. But, if it does get picked up again I hope they give it an half hour.
