I love 'Renaissance'

I've stayed up late just to watch it again on CN as it's my favorite episode. Patton Oswalt as Helmet is quite possibly the greatest thing about this episode, that and "Merlin has a phone! Merlin has a phone! Burn him! Burn him! Burn him alive!!!"

"If you should need me, tap this staff three times on a wall."
"Magic?"
"No, it's just loud."

reply

"i'm ready for this thing."
"final performance?"
"yeah!"
"the wizard and the blacksmith?"
"what? uh, yeah!"

Patton Oswalt was an excellent guest voice in that episode going on about how he wants his scroll and summoning Odin.

The music is top notch too, it's alot like Rick Wakeman's concept album about King Arthur from the 70's. The mini moog solo during the renaissance fair people and sci fi con people battle rules.

I think my favorite bit with Helmet had to be him telling the wandmaker just what all was wrong with the wand

"I'm sorry, that is not a wand of summoning, my friend. No, no a wand of summoning has a pewter coil. That- That's not a pewter coil! That is- That is inlaid scrimshaw, which- Was there whaling in King Arthur's time? I don't think so. That's weird that you would have scrimshaw."

"If you should need me, tap this staff three times on a wall."
"Magic?"
"No, it's just loud."

I think Renaissance is my second favorite next to "Shore Leave" (The fairy princess one).

My favorite pars of Renaissance is the exchange between Mr Lynch and Dwayne.

Dwayne: Cash up front or we don't play.
Lynch: No, that wasn't the agreement.
Dwayne: So?
Dwayne: So you work first then we're going to pay you.
Dwayne: So?
Lynch: So that's what we're going to do
Dwayne: I don't care
Lynch: OK
Dwayne: Cash up front?!
Lynch: No, no cash later
Dwayne: I don't care
Lynch: Alright then, go away.
Dwayne: OK

Also when McGuirk tells Brendon to get him some food from the Fast Food place across the street
Brendon: They didn't have curly fries back in Medieval Times. I can't do it.
McGuirk: Turn your head, look. There's the burger place. You can see it from here. OH WAIT, there's a Car. IT JUST DROVE BY. No, NOW IT'S GOING INTO THE DRIVE THROUGH.
Brendon: Why are you yelling at me.
McGuirk: BECAUSE GO GET ME ONE.

And the all time best part of the episode was when McGuirk and the lawn gnomes are sitting on the grass drinking and making fun of the Sci-Fi nerds and the Medieval Geeks fighting.
Somebody's had too much to think.

Shore Leave is a good one, but I miss seeing all the interaction between Brendon, Jason, and Melissa.

The final kicker in Renaissance is during the credits with the fact that all the people are gone except Walter and Perry who are still underneath the apple cart

"If you should need me, tap this staff three times on a wall."
"Magic?"
"No, it's just loud."

"Good morrow, Robin Hood."
"Good morrow, Guinevere."
"Art thou ready for our date? Feels like dragon weather, does it not?"
"Guinevere!"
"Lord Arthur!"
"Date?! Thou art my girlfriend! Robin Hood, has thou been stealing my things and giving them to the poor?!"
"Yes!"
"And you've stolen my girlfriend too?!"
"Yes!"
"And you're giving her to the poor?!"
"Yes!"
"Woah..."
"You're giving her to the poor?"
"That's what I said, yes!"

"If you should need me, tap this staff three times on a wall."
"Magic?"
"No, it's just loud."

This ep was just on tonight. I love it! The line that had me laughing the hardest was when Lynch tells McGuirk to speak in Elizabethan, and McGuirk says his blacksmith line in a high pitched, feminine voice. I was laughing for like 5 minutes after that. So funny!
