Why Josie?

What's the point of Josie? I can't think of one time she was integral to the plot, except maybe if Paula tried to find a babysitter or whatever. I guess she changed the whole family dynamic, like instead of it being just Paula and Brendan, it's a 2 kid family. But it seems weird to have a character that doesn't matter. Was this UPN's way of drawing mothers with young children to watch the show?

As my namesake may have noted, "It stinks!"

She's just a cool, cute character. Sometimes a scene will be going on and Josie will be doing something adorable or hilarious in the background, and I love it.

I enjoyed the 666 on her forhead in the episode "Coffins and Cradles". (AWESOME EPISODE)

The Groucho Marx docotor was really good. (And of course Stephanie)

I like childish gibberish.

And so does America!

MARBLES IN YOUR NOSE!!!

Yeah, kinda how Maggie is with the Simpson's nowdays. I still like Josie's character though.

Huckabee 2012!!

She is so cute, but I see what the OP means.

She's there as an ear for Brendon's problems :) I remember a scene where Brendon and Josie are sitting in the sand box and Brendon just keeps talking about some problem, but talking as if he were talking to someone who can reply, you know? And her mumbling is just adorable!

For me, her "pointlessness" adds to the reality of the show. Babies, in real life, don't exist to provide entertainment for others. They eat, poop, mumble, stick things up their noses, etc. Josie is a REAL baby; she's not a "Maggie Simpson" who has plotlines and wacky adventures of her own. And considering the improvised, naturalistic tone of the show, that fits very well.
