The first season episodes have been airing and they are awful. The character animation is shaky for some reason and the characters voices just sound bad. I really like this show but i'm surprised it got a second season and really surprised it got on TV in the first place.

The shaky animation is called "Squigglevision" - it's actually designed to be that way. To me, the voices seem pretty consistent with the rest of the series (except for Paula, of course, who's a completely different voice). If you really want to see a whacked out first season, check out The Simpsons!
shareBesides some colors and voices, what is off about the first season of The Simpsons? It looks and sounds pretty awesome; they already had the heart, humor, and pacing that would make the show great for 9-ish seasons. It's a bit dark, and who knows how insane it must've looked in 1989, but it's one of the best seasons ever.
I love Home Movies but the animation on season 1 wasn't a hit. I see why they did it, sorta, and it kinda gels with the oddities of the rest of the show. I think it worked better in Dr. Katz, since everyone seems REALLY nervous. But anyway, they improved Home Movies' animation eventually, and either way seaosn 1 is great.
