I love the observational, subtle humour of Home Movies (or King of the Hill).
So I'm asking for suggestions of anything (whatever form it is, movie, books, tv shows) that carries a similar humour.
Dr. Katz and Bob's Burgers.
shareYeah, Bob's Burgers easily. Same dude is behind it, Jon Benjamin is the star again, and Brendon and Melissa both make cameos in the first season. Voices of Lindenson, Lynch and Fenton are reoccurring characters. The style is nearly the same, just a bit more punched up and frantic for network television.
But it's easily the closest thing I've seen to Home Movies in ages. Also, any other past work by Loren Bouchard, such as Dr. Katz and Science Court.
DEF. Katz and Burgers... also try 12 Oz. Mouse, if you are into surreal and odd and lo-fi... Blaze the Pot Smoking Deer, too...
also, check out Curb Your Enthusiasm too. It's often subtle (not always, though) and always hilarious... mostly improvised, too..
