Why I don't like Home Movies

And let me start by saying this wasn't a bad show. I like a lot of it, and if I happen to be awake while it is on I will usually watch it. But there is one little personal story that makes me angry towards the show.

I was involved in a terrible car accident and nearly died. Spent a month in the ICU, another month in 'regular' hospital rooms, and the next 2 or 3 years having surgeries to fix all the stuff that happened to me.

What irks me is what my brother, a really big Home Movies fan, told me a few years after the accident... he told me he felt bad because he wanted to go home and watch the last episode of Home Movies, which aired the night of my accident (4/4/04), rather than stick around to see if I lived or died.

Of course he stuck around, witnessed a few days of my roller coaster ride, and probably got to see the episode in a timely manner.

But I'll always have this show tied with the worst day of my life, so even though I enjoy the show 99% of the time.... I hate this show.

That's terrible. Maybe he just couldn't handle seeing you in pain like that, all the drama involved.

That's not a reason to dislike home movies. That's a reason to dislike your brother.

reply

Hmm well that justmakes you selfish don't you think. Like Home Movies really thought to air it on the day you decide to get in to an accident. See how much of an ass I just sounded right now. That's because I was imatating you

Your brother made the wrong choice. He should have watched the episode. Poor guy.. Having to go through that all because of you..

"i'm telling you this because i'm a coach.....and you're just a kid."

Really?

I would want to go home and watch HOME MOVIES too. Not because I didn't care about my brother, but because I would need something to take my mind off of it. If my one siblings were involved in something like that, I would be traumatized and need something to put a smile on my face.

To the world you may just be somebody, but to somebody you may just be the world.

Sucks for you to have a crappy brother. At any rate you're still alive, so go buy a dvd of home movies.

Stories like this are why I like imdb. No offense, that sounds horrible, I don't mean to sound like i'm belittling your accident, I'm not... it's just an interesting story (which is why you told it).

This is a great show, but anyone that chooses a SHOW over their brother is an ass...
