Those Bitches Tried to Cheat Me w/ Aeon Flux reference?

Anyone notice the sound effects from Aeon Flux? It happens around the 14 minute mark, when Jason starts to cry behind the locker. Is it just me or were those the Aeon Flux sound effects for a scene transition?

Very interesting. What episode are you talking about (of Home Movies -- and what sound are you referencing from Aeon Flux)?

I'm assuming they both had access to the same sound libraries, you know? Then again, I'm assuming you're talking about a pretty obscure sound both shows share... which is maybe a coincedence... then again, Aeon Flux and Rugrats had similiar contributors, Liquid Television (which Flux aired on) has had hundreds of people involved go on to other shows... these are just examples, those shows don't have much to do with Home Movies that I know of, but it proves the pool is kinda small as far as televised animation goes...

The episode is "Those Bitches Tried to Cheat Me." The sound is like a short, little chime sound.

This is the episode on youtube. I doubt the video will still be available by the time you get around to seeing it, but the sound happens right at 13:51. Some girl is standing in a hallway and her face is right in front of the camera. She passes off screen and then the camera zooms in towards the back of the hallway, where Jason is hiding and crying around a corner. It only lasts for about a second or so.

I am a bit more skeptical now about whether it's a reference to Aeon Flux, but I think they were definitely trying to reference something, since the sound is so unique and is the 2 second shot seems intentionally different from the normal style of the show.

I'm going to check Aeon Flux to see if I can find an exact match and I'll report back within the next year or two.

Actually, I somehow randomly found myself back to this board and saw what you're talking about! Only 6 days later!

...That IS interesting. I have all of Home Movies and all of Aeon Flux on dvd so I should investigate as well. Never a complaint on my part on having to watch those great shows again.
