Paula Poundstone
Does anyone know why she left the show?

I don't know what your problem is Xeokym, maybe you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or life, or whatever but this is a place where people can talk about things (any thing) with other fans of the show. While I'm NOT going to respond to the "other" posts I will respond to this one.: I'm told that I am a VERY sarcastic person but I am trying to get away from that so I will just put it this way: Paula Poundstone was only in 5 episodes, she left the show before season 1 ended.

I read that she chose to leave between the time that Home Movies was cancelled on UPN and then revived on Adult Swim. She was replaced with Janine Ditullio, who did Paula's voice for the rest of the series.
shareLooks like little Xeokym didn't comprehend very well. Back to 5th grade English!
shareI think my brother told me that she got in trouble for driving drunk with her kids or something, but who knows... My memories not so great and he makes sh#@ up sometimes.
shareno paula poundstone got into a lot of trouble with drinking and was accused of molesting her female child while drunk, she was later cleared somehow, but theres still a bit of a pall on her career. i'm still unsure why they went after her or what kind of evidence they had... to hear her tell it, they had no evidence just went after her
but if that's the same time she left the show or not, i'm not sure. it was always the first thing i thought of, though.
I thought her replacement was better, though. She sounded more feminine and had a cute voice. Poundstone's voice, I thought, was too manly.
sharei prefered janine's voice as well, but she obviously didn't have any comic chops
shareYeah, I agree with you on that. Poundstone was way funnier than Ditullio, however you spell it, but I didn't like the sound of her voice. I really thought it was just too manly. Ditullio has a very cute voice.
shareDon't know but wish she hadn't. I've tried this show a few times and never took to it, then was finally I guess in the right mood recently. Just got to the first few instances of the new voice and it is jarring. I thought Poundstone was perfect -- her natural gravelliness works with Brendon's mom being such an unrefined, blunt personality, yet there's also a sweetness of tone there that highlights the character's warmth.
The replacement is just... anonymous, bland, some woman reading lines. All the original vividness is lost.
