Would This Have Made a Good Television Series/Mini-Series?

I watched What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? for the first time last night, directly after watching Once Were Warriors (which I'd seen a few times before). I really enjoyed the second film. It was a great sequel IMO.

Anyway, one thing I thought about was that the storyline from this second movie would have made a good shorter television series or even just a mini-series. Some of the scenes (such as the pig hunting scene) really felt meaningful and poignant in a television kind of way to me.

There's a few more things they could have gone into in more or just further depth:
- Further explore Jake's changes as a man
- Maybe a bit more about Beth and the rest of the family (more than just "she's living with the welfare worker")
- Give us a bit more background on Sonny (he clearly wasn't in the first movie, so give us something more about him)
- Explore Mookie's struggle with getting involved in the hit (more than just him hiding behind the bins)

Anyway, I just think that it could have done well in more of a drawn-out form as a television series. It's a great film regardless, but exploring everything with more depth would make it even greater IMO. What do others think?

Do you like Huey Lewis & the News?
