Can a pane of glass really flatten you?
Could a falling pane of glass really flatten a person as much as it did that kid in FD2?

shareIt wasn't the glass so much as it was the crane holding it, when it fell the kid was right in the center of it where the part of the crane was that it was secured to. So he was crushed from the force of the crane dropping it so fast.
shareDidn't really flatten as much as it... folded him. I would say it could. Weighs a lot, fell from rather high up. It wouldn't just break immediately, so that's quite some force coming down on him.
Most of the time, when something looks realistic, it is.

I believe they said the glass weighed 600 pounds on the DVD.
And like someone else said, it didn't totally smush him. Here's an aftermath pic: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lmqgcgE7841qhmqvz.png

The puppet/animatronic is very obvious, a real person would've been thrown to the ground immediately by the force and wouldn't remain upright to somehow have their spine come through the front abdomen. The face and upper next would be almost completed smashed/sheared off though.

Considering the possible weight and material, plus the momentum it gathered from its drop height, and the age of the kid... Yes.
