It wouldn't make sense for her to to receiver 17 grand from the accident and then LOUDLY AND CURSINGLY DEMAND a job!!!!!

Erin actually received at $50,000US settlement outside of court. But as previously stated, it makes it more believable in the movie for her to not have received any monies whatsoever.

I think she did get some money. Remember when she told her kids that she wasn't hungry because her lawyer took her out to celbrate?

... Uh, no... that was a lie...

1: before they went out to Denny's she looked around for something to feed the kids. one box of mac and cheese... they go out...

2: she also had such little money on her, she wanted to make sure her kids ate.

3: later on you see her in the kitchen eating a small can of fruit.

and quite frankly, what good would it have been if she had gotten money and then demanded a job from Masry?
