Utility now requesting another $5 million to make repairs it didn't make then
PG&E says it's "committed" to "the safety of its gas transmission system"
Watchdog group says PG&E spent $5 million in bonuses in 2009

TURN officials think they know where some of the money went -- in 2009, the year PG&E didn't spend $5 million on fixing the pipeline, the company did spend $5 million on bonuses for six top executives.
"The company's priorities appear to be skewed," TURN executive director Mark Toney said.

yeah i just found that out today. not about what happened in bruno, but i failed to notice that it was the same company from this movie. i really think pg&e should be dismantled and have a new company step in. right about now i'm shocked that pg&e even have enough money (after subtraction in decades of lawsuits) to continue on. isn't this actually costing the state of california more than anything due the company's sloppy work. i mean, wouldn't the state of california save money by putting in a new company for gas and electricity? how much does this company cost the state every year in clean ups and court fees? it's mind boggling. i thought california was in debt and needing to find ways to save money? this would be like a family in bankruptcy hiring a well known negligent contractor to work on an extension of their house and expecting to keep well within the budget. it's total stupidity.
