why did she warn the people about the water in the cups?

I would of let them drink the water then have told them that it was the water they were polluting rather than say it was their water before they drank it.

two reasons:

1. Knowingly let people put something toxic in their body and helping them do it without their knowledge or consent is unethical and could have gotten them into a ton of trouble legally.

2. They wanted to see their reaction, which was essentially a confession that they knew the water was contaminated.

^ This. When she refused to drink from the water, she was caught. It was Erin's way of letting her know, "We know your guilty."

I agree that it was just something she said to make 'em squirm.

When you think of garbage, think of Hakim!

You don't (and most likely they didn't even in real life) put toxic water in the cups, you just have to make people think you did and put on a good show.

Actually, I really wished they would have cut that scene; seemed over the top.

And the person who looks at the water then puts it down...come on!

Obviously no law office would do such a thing; it was just a rhetorical statement.

But one supposes that the opposing side knew enough about all the pollution that just thinking about it made them put that water down.

You're talking about the law firm scene, right?

She was joking. She didn't really put water in the cups, but she was bluffing them just to gauge their reaction. They didn't call her bluff. There was no toxin in the water.
