Something always made me wonder, how did Daniel, Nick, Ken, and Kim had money to buy Food, Pot, and Gas for their cars?

Kim - Comes from a terrible Broken home with an Abusive step-father and crazy mother. So I highly doubt they're giving her any allowance or cash.

Ken - It seems Ken is the only plausible one with Cash. Since he mentions he comes from a Rich Family when he tells Amy about his childhood, the Nanny his parents hired to babysit him. (She was the Best Mommy money could buy)

Nick - How did Nick buy his Drum set? Those equipment he used in his basement seemed expensive and I highly doubt his Dad would even give him a cent to buy those Drums he seemed to despise so much. Also the amount of cash he spent on Marijuana? Mind boggling.

Daniel - He also seemed to tune up his car regularly and have alot of music records. But his home life isn't that great either, it seems the Mother struggles with paying the bills and his Father seems ill. The mom also suggests she wouldn't mind turning down Daniel bringing in a paycheck if he dropped out of High School by working at a Gas Station.

Yeah, how did Daniel afford his Trans Am, or how did Nick afford that Maverick

I recall Daniel had some kind of mechanic's uniform on more than once so he probably was or had a job working at an auto repair shop. Probably how he got his car - built and tuned his own muscle. Maybe does odd jobs for his various older "cousins" like the dudes that crashed Lindsay's party. I can see the guy doing manual labor work that is reserved for illegal aliens these days - yard cleanups, hauling garbage, that sort of thing.

Kim seems like the type that would conduct theft to fund her interests. Wouldn't rule it past her that she may even whore herself to get money.

Nick probably had a small amount of money set aside by his father on an allowance basis, as his dad is a military officer and paid quite well, with rigid compensation standards to his son most likely. Then in turn, Nick perhaps
sold drugs from time to time to profit on. Nick didn't seem like that stupid of a guy, he had a lot of solid street smarts.

Ken for obvious reasons would have money but we really didn't see him flaunt anything of value that was HIS. He had no car, and wore shabby clothes. Most of his money was probably locked away in a trust fund until he became of age. It makes sense when you think of this in terms of how Ken is probably the smartest academically out of the quartet, but he's a slacker because he knows he doesn't need to work hard and yet still can enjoy the fruits of life when he gets older. Seen LOTS of guys like that who end up being party animal frat house drunkards yet because of the family connection, get to be VP of daddy's company.. very common thing that happened in the 80s.
