Netflix Should Produce a Reunion

I recently finished watching Freaks and Geeks for the first time on Netflix, and I absolutely loved it. It's become one of my favorite TV series. The only problem I had with it was that there were only 18 episodes to watch. I would love to see more. I read that Seth Rogen was interested in doing a film version of the show based around a high school reunion. I think that could be a great idea, but maybe they could turn the film idea into a mini-series? I feel like Netflix would be a great place for that. If the mini-series went well perhaps they could go on to produce Freaks and Geeks the next generation? The cast from the original series could make occasional appearances on the show.

Good ideas. I was thinking the same thing myself. Then I came here and lo and behold, dozens of posts identical to ours saying the same things. And all from this summer no less. I guess everybody is finally watching this great show. Netflix is the only shop smart enough to make this happen. The mob has spoken, as they say.

It's a good idea but I think they would not be able to afford the bulk of the original cast for a full-on series. I can see most of them taking a salary cut for a one-off film as they feel connected to the series that spun off their careers, but a full series is a very time consuming thing. We could have new characters, full of unknowns, of course, but beware for what you wish for as these don't always turn out so great.

There are a lot of great shows like this Netflix should bring back. I'm 100% sure this is one of the shows on their radar. But they can only do so much. Bringing back Jericho, for example, didn't pan out. They did it for Arrested Development and Full House, though, so there's hope. But the older the show is, the harder it is to keep going. Shows that were just about to end are the easiest, if you look at how they saved The Killing and Longmire.

With the heck of the cast Freaks & Geeks has, a reunion would be extra-awesome. I really hope they could make this work.

Rogen should make that happen! Only I'd be afraid that at this point in time they would run with it and make it like any other Rogen/Apatow comedy. Freaks and Geeks can't become excessive in drugs and language just because that sells their movies. Its a different world.

As much as I'd like to see what happened next in the series, a reunion just wouldn't be the same. It's been nearly 30 years. Why would these characters still be talking to each other at this point? The show is pretty perfect as is, so IMO they would probably just ruin it as many reunions do. The budget would also have to enormous to afford all of these people.
