The Gym teacher's sex talk with Sam
Maybe this is discussed here and I missed it, but what does the gym teacher tell Sam about sex?

shareWell I don't know if you've seen the whole episode, but he's disturbed by the question Sam asks in class (anonymously, but Mr Fredricks recognizes his notepaper) and wonders where he's heard of "this activity". We don't know what the exact question is, but it could be a number of things that would be considered out of the ordinary (at least back then), such as anal sex, group sex, etc. When Sam says it's from a porn movie, Mr Fredricks decides to have more in-depth, honest talk with Sam about this and probably sex in general. Since he knows that Sam doesn't know much about it and is quite naive, he doesn't want to him to get a distorted view of what it's usually like, and decides that it's better to be honest with him, even if he's not supposed to have that kind of talk with a student.
shareMy assumption was it was a question about anal sex, which made the teacher think the kid was being abused at first and made him want to talk to the kid to check. That conversation based on anal sex eventually led to, among other things, a discussion about homosexuality based on the teacher's statement of 'certain men, not me'. That is my impression.
Supposedly the scene where they are talking behind the window is just the actor telling dirty jokes to the kid and them recording the reaction (a mix of horror, disgust and humor).

Well, what are you lookin at butthead?
I'm....I'm...doing something in here.
Am i the only one who cringed badly by that scene. The score playing over and the expressions just made it yuck.
shareI think and hope you are alone. It was a brilliant, sensitive, soulful, silly scene. I'm legitimately sorry that it did not speak to you.
shareMight be because where i am from sex is not a big deal. We had children shows showing the complete human anatomy and the functions of the genitals along with rest of the organs (Not traumatised or devil worshipper btw)so i might miss context
shareI don't know what they teach in sex ed these days, but look at what the kids were taught in their class: An internal diagram of the female reproductive system...which of course is completely unrecognizable and only causes more confusion. Many adults in the US still want kids to be ignorant and think that is the best way to prevent problems. I absolutely loved the office scene! What a wonderful teacher to realize what the kid was going through and gently let him know about reality. Something kids today, watching porn from childhood, would greatly benefit from. Their expectations are completely unrealistic because of it. Many young men now suffer from impotence, probably because they think their normal penis is inadequate because it's not a foot long.
