'Agony' - Universal's urban legend-based movie.

Here's a report from the Arrow In The Head website (28/08/06);

The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Universal Pictures has picked up the horror flick AGONY from writer Scott Nimerfro. Since Nimerfro was behind a few episodes of the HBO series TALES FROM THE CRYPT, and even produced both DEMON KNIGHT and BORDELLO OF BLOOD, I'd say there's hope for this bad boy to kick ass!

My only hesitation? The story sounds a little like something we've seen not once, not twice, but three times...

"The story is set in the world of urban legends on college campuses, with one horrifying legend in particular turning out to be true."

Which means, at any minute, Universal could just say "Hey, let's just add URBAN LEGEND to the title, and call it URBAN LEGENDS 4: THIS TIME IT'S AGONY, and make even more money because that series rules". And then let's hope there's someone in the room who's actually seen the prior 2 sequels to LEGEND, and stops that idea dead in its tracks. Because, let's face it, those movies sucked. But I will say this: the first LEGEND has to be one of my biggest guilty pleasures, as I still put it up there as one of my favorite slasher flicks (at least from the late 90s).

Given my love of LEGEND, I like the direction AGONY is going, let's just hope the script turns out OK (it's currently being written). And if we're lucky, they'll throw together a cast of hotties that rivals the said slasher flick (plus, I hear Tara Reid is looking for a job). Stick around for more info. on AGONY as we hear it!
