Star Wars paradox

Does anyone feel this story line is sort of parrallel to the Star Wars films? William Peterson you find out is LUKES father. And he is told to turn on his own son, but in the end rebels against Craig Nelson? In a way, Lucas brings a balance to the skulls, or something to that nature. Plus, little things like WAR being a big part of the plot, not knowing his father and so on. I'm not a big star wars nut or anything, I just thought there were many coinsidences...

Metaphorically, I see some of the similarities you listed.

However, you stated that William Peterson is LUKE'S (Joshua Jackson) father - where did you get this idea? I haven't seen the film much, but I never noticed anything being said about this. Was this something in the commentary or a deleted scene?

Thanks!

I've gotta say, I've watched this movie several times and I never picked up on William Peterson being Luke's father. I know at the very end when Lucas walks away from him he says "Well done, son.", but I didn't think he was being literal. Is this what you're referring to, or are their other indications of WP being Lucas' father?

Luke is not the Senator's son. I can guarantee you that. The poster prob thinks whenever you say son it is meant as his off spring. Alot of older people refer to younger people as son.

"I ain't your son and I ain't easy. You take sorry and shove it up your ass." Great line from "Tombstone"

Just because it wasn't outright said "i'm your father" it could be a posibility. They never identify who his father is, and it just seems the man took an overall interest in Luke, so its a poosibility is all i'm saying. But my original point with a few facts aside, it seems overall similar to the Star Wars storyline.
