'I'm sorry I make it so impossible to love me'

28 Days, like virtually all of Sandra Bullocks’s films up to this point, is an uneven effort. However, her scene with Elizabeth Perkins toward the end—when Gwen and Lily reconcile—is, in my opinion, her finest hour. Mind you, I haven’t seen her more acclaimed work, such as Gravity and The Blind Side.

Well, even with Gravity and especially The Blind Side, I think that this was one of her best works as an actress. This, and the unfairly ignored In Love and War. So-so movies but powerhouse performances by Bullock in both.

Is she the consummate actor along the lines of a Phillip Seymour Hoffman or Helen Mirren? No. She keeps getting cast because people like her and can identify with her. And while not transcendent, she is a pretty good actress. She was the It girl of last summer as she was in two of the biggest hits - Gravity and the Heat.
