This film had the legs to be good, but fell short.
I just watched the movie. I liked the premise, but it really fell short. They had an excellent cast.
One thing that was so out of place to me is that it was an upscale private college in a college town. But it seemed more like they were all locals. I know they all were not, but it had more of a high school setting feel to it. Especially that hallway scene when she says "hello" to Trevor. Being picky, I have to add that when Hadley and her two friends laughed at the professor's use of the word "oral", I thought that was juvenile, and not what one would expect from college seniors.
I am awful with names, but of the two friends of Hadley's, the one with the curly hair seemed sensible. I wonder why she would have not been more forthcoming about what she knew from that night. Or if she wasn't going to come forward, why didn't we see knowing glances between her and Hadley?
Regarding the friend with the straight blond hair, it was hard to believe that she was acting like she had really scored big time by having sex with Alecia. There was not enough time to have passed for her to be the newest "it" girl.
I think the story line between the dad and Alecia should have been that they slept together. What guy offers up that kind of cash before checking her out? Sure, he is lead to believe that she is some sort of savior to Hadley. But it is college, and it is not like he knew for sure that Hadley was doing better academically.
And what was up with Warren and his replaying Alecia on screen? That at the end gave the vibe of the possibility of a sequel, in a pathetic, obvious way.
My last gripe is that the girls accused the cop of sexual misconduct, but that never went anywhere.
