How is Whistler alive in this movie?

A line of dialog from the film explains this:

"He shot himself and then he turned." says Rush, the vampire Blade allows to leave as a "loose end" for showing him Whistler.

"There are right people to lynch." Who? People not well connected.

The real reason Whistler is alive in Blade 2 when he should be dead was because of Guillermo Del Toro. Del Toro argued that no one saw Whistler shoot himself (in the DVD commentary), so he really didn't die in Del Toro's eyes. I guess Del Toro never learned about implications and dropping hints in storytelling. Still, it was nice to see Whister again, albeit he wasn't as awesome as he was in the original Blade film.

I remember seeing, a long time ago, a deleted scene from "Blade." When Blade and the woman were climbing out into the daylight after Blade had just blown up Deacon Frost, there was a figure in the background that appeared to be Whistler. It was hinting at him returning in a sequel, but they decided to leave it out of the film. (Probably because they didn't know if a sequel was to happen yet.)
