In a 2005 book that Donnie Yen had written for the Japanese market ("Donnie Yen's Action Book"), he wrote: "Wesley Snipes has a deep knowledge of Asian martial arts and has a very solid foundation in Kung Fu. However, the action in this movie was terrible due to the editing. Wesley actually performed about 20 moves per shot, but the editing makes it seem like someone whose lack of prowess needs to be disguised. People in Hollywood don’t understand the point of an action or what goes on behind the scenes. Even things that the camera was able to capture accurately ended up being destroyed during the editing stage. When I watch this movie, I get the feeling that an extreme amateur was processing something created by a professional. It’s a shame."
