At least from an entertainment factor. Also found the support characters more interesting.

I too thought it was better than the first one. I didn't like the doctor much, Nyssa was way better. The characters in 2 had more of a wow factor.

For me the first one wins in an couple of areas.

Action:

Norrington injects all the set pieces with a sense of urgency that leaves the viewer breathless while Del Toro's are not bad do not have that zest.

Atomsphere:

Norrigton makes LA a very forbidding place while Del Toro wastes the Prague setting of his film

Del Toro wins out on horror just because of the presence of the Reapers

It is waaaay better than the first one in terms of everything ... effects, action, direction, writing, pacing, etc.

Due to the lack of moderators, trolls can ruin the IMDB message boards. Don't feed them.
