Best of the series
IMO it has the best story, action, performances. Definitely a fresh take on Vampires. Loved this movie and it's still my fav out of all the Blade series.

shareYep, defiantly the best and strongest of the series (the 3rd is such a come down after this one)
shareCompletely disagree,
I love Guillermo but when I first watched this film when it came out it felt like a complete rip off of "the crow", I thought I would give it a second chance since I made that judgment when I was young but I still come away feeling the same way. Especially that last scene in the sex booth, complete rip off of the crow and as a huge crow fan it just really destroyed it for me + the club scene felt too similar to the crow also.
Apart from the similarities to the crow I felt the story made no sense, why would a vampire be so against being a better/stronger form of itself.. no more fear of garlic and silver much harder to kill etc...
Its not like they were familiars who turned into the mutant things, it was the vampires themselves. The only argument one could have is the vampire "honour". They did drive home the point that they were pure blood's and Nyssa was probably the only one who would have had a problem with the mutant transformation. Apart from her the portrayal of the other vampires were of beast like creatures with no regard for honour or any form of ancient code. So AGAIN the whole plot made little sense.
For me it was the biggest let down of the series, I will have to re-watch the final film now to be sure but I was surprisingly disappointed by the second film, I thought Guillermo would have done a much better job at creating a plausible and interesting story.
All in all still a 6/10 but only because 5/10 seems a little harsh.
+ they did have a scene with ninja's, so.....
Just watched the 3rd film and even though it clearly isn't the same type of film and I remember being annoyed at the changes when it first came out after a re-watch it really does bring an extra element which was quite refreshing. Say what you want about Ryan Reynolds but I don't think any other actor would have done better with what he had to do in the 3rd instalment. So even though it is a tough call between the 2nd or 3rd film being the worst, im gona have to stick with my original case as the 2nd being the worst, mostly because I grew up adoring the crow films and those similarities destroyed blade II for me. Not to mention the whole mutant vampire stuff which I found kinda confusing considering they were better than the original vampires.
anyway...

Eh? At no point did Blade 2 remind of 'The crow2?!
shareTotally agree, but for me Nomak is the reason this one out shines the other two. In my opinion they went with terrible directions for Frost and Dracula considering the history Blade has with both of them. But more importantly Nomak gave us the most satisfying final fight, while Frost as the blood god was WAY too short and Drake just never got to live up to his full potential.
The only thing that disappointed me about Blade II was that Donnie Yen's character Snowman died before we were treated to what I'm sure would've been a sword fight for the ages.

Yeah it baffled me too why someone of Yen's caliber would play such a bit role when we know he could've really shined in a film like this.
I didn't really recognize him either the first time I watched it. I honestly think he is one of those guys whose martial arts background and clean living makes it seem as if he never ages, so couple that with his vampire makeup and I wouldn't be surprised if very few people knew it was him.

You killed Captain Clown, YOU KILLED CAPTAIN CLOWN-The Joker on Batman TAS
totally agree. best in the series.
share Yes ... I would definitely agree that Blade II is THE best movie in the series ... by FAR !!! I mean, Luke Goss ALMOST stole the movie but ... it was still a better movie than the original or "Trinity"! It can't help but be better with Perlman, Schulze, Curran and Reedus!

Normally, I'd complete disagree with you, as I thought the original was awesome. While I do still believe Deacon Frost was the best Blade villain, after just watching Blade II (for maybe the 6-7th time), I think I may have to side with Blade II. There is far more action and better fighting scenes, minus a few lame cgi moments. The movie rarely stops to take a breather. In the end, it's a photo finish, but I think Blade II takes the cake.
