In the last episode of Season 1 (Ends) Brian and Twist are at the art gallery and Brian says one of the paintings is called The Fifth Elephant. Which would have been just published at that time (1999).

I really hope that was a Pratchett reference because I absolutely love both Spaced and the Discworld books.

Actually they were referencing The Fifth Element (1997), they say so in the commentary track.
