Where is this direction of how characters like Chiana play 'sexy' from?

Not sure I can explain this right, but I assume people will get what I mean...lol

Chiana is OK for me, but she bugs me the way the character is directed/written I think. I'm sure she was told to act in this manner. Nothing annoys me more with characters, and this seems to be more common in sci-fi characters than anything else trying to be sexy as when they have that sort of Catwoman prowl and talk all husky and over the top like she did when she first came on. I just hate characters that are all twitchy and acting as if they are in a drug daze way of trying to be sexy. Contorting their body all dramatically with their neck all crooked. Then that husky whisper. Ugh.

I don't know where it comes from, or why anyone would find it to be attractive, much less direct someone to act that way. It's a comic book villain trait too, or at least used to be much more common in them in older TV shows and movies. Catwoman does that prowl, but she is actually sexy because she is clever and isn't trying to sound sexy. She just is sexy (Not so much the 1960s Batman one probably, but modern one is). Characters played as Chiana was is insanely over the top and just anti-sexy to me.

...maybe it's really sexy to aliens. ๎—

For what it's worth, Gigi Edgley's thing of swaying her head back and forth apparently first started because her alien contact lenses made it hard to see her peripheral vision, and she just decided to incorporate it into her performance.

Haha...must be sexy to comic book characters too? Usually gives our heroes some pause when confronted with a beautiful female villain. ๐Ÿ˜

I wonder if that contacts excuse can be used for the rest of the "sexy" sci-fi acting. LOL

Sexy to humans too.
I think universally sexy.

I love the actress and character but I never saw that as her trying to be sexy, I thought that was her being alien and saw that as a trait of her species.

You make far too many assumptions, she wasn't directed to be sexy and not everyone finds what she does sexy, it was you that brought up catwoman, when it is never mentioned in the show or by any producers.

She does what she does because she is an alien, and her race are nocturnal thieves that specialise in stealth, burglary, speed and observation. She's not going to move like D'argo.

Your entire two paragraphs make the same assumption over and over again that she is trying to be sexy, she's not, she's trying to be an alien. Do you also find Rigel's flatulence a turnoff? Because if you created a thread about that not being sexy then perhaps you would be correct that time.

Ummm...of course she is trying to be an alien, but she's also playing a sexualized alien. Her entire character is one of a sexual beast. Someone who behaves like a teenager and just does whatever feels good.

You're the only one that doesn't understand what I said. Everyone else completely got it. Maybe you should think about this more.

Let me guess: you're a guy, right? ๎€› She wasn't acting sexy so much as alien. In the opinions of the FARSCAPE fans I know personally, she was a resounding success. That's what it's all about.

She moves like a cat in a pretty hot humanoid body. And she's pretty damned awesome too.
