i can't even remember what it was about! is it me or does anyone else find the characters and the acting really fake?! also, i was expecting a teen comedy, i'm not sure it even reached THAT! in the entire film, i laughed ONCE
There is no plot. You would think this somewhat crucial to a film. A girl meets a boy. They get together. They break up. They get back together again. Hmmmm. That sounds like life to me - yes, that thing I was trying to escape for an hour or so by watching a film.
The acting is terrible...or do they find themselves unable to perform due to the lack of plot? It's like the whole film exists just to satisfy an appearance from Henry Wrinkler.
Watch this film at your peril. There is one good thing that happens after you've watched it, actually: you will never again spend time musing over your least favourite film of all time. This one will always be there, at the tip of your tongue. No question.
In fact, back in high school the only reason I went to the theater to see it was (a) my then-girlfriend wanted to see it for some ungodly reason and (b) I worked at the theater so it was free.
But let's put it this way: the BOTH of us walked out of the movie about halfway through -- a FREE movie, and we walked the hell out it was so horrendous.
The only movie I think vies for the title of Worst Movie Ever Made is "The Sweetest Thing" with Cameron Diaz. Good lord that is some serious drivel -- a TRAVESTY of the artform.
Somehow, I just can't resist giving high rating for this movie - just to improve the current rating. However I do agree with all you guys, that this movie totally sux - but there is just a little bit of something, some sort of really strong and very true emotions; and that is way I kind of like it!!!
i dont know if its good or not, i just know i like watching it.
i like julia stiles and i love new york and the movie is really well done.
i totally hated it that in germany they called it "he's all that" so people would think it would have something to do with "she's all that". that made me not watch this movie back when it was in theatres.
if I'd known its some totally different movie just with freddie prinze in it i think i would've watched it :)
i like this movie, i like it alot. maybe because people tell me I look like julia stiles and i see myself in "imogen" alot...
i actually liked this movie!!! is not that bad at all it wasn't defenetly a teen comedy at the beginning of the movie i thought it was going to be another stupid teen cheesy movie and it was actually for the first 20 minutes i was about to turn it off but i din't because there was nothing else to see but then as the movie go on became more interesting the acting was not bad at least from julia stiles the story was likeble but i think that the reason why people didn't liked this movie was freddie prinze jr. He and julia stiles had no chemistry at all!!! and that is probably why some of you didn't liked
One of the things that killed it for me is that their "friends" were totally boring and their characters were so unbelievable and not funny. The Rosario character sucked, monk sucked (who the hell was he? Pornstar? very vague), Selma Blair and the other friend that grew a mullet sucked...boring boring boring.
no I LOVE this movie, I got a copy when it first came out and watched it everyday untill the tape got messed up...then I bought another one!...I may be the lamest person I know!....oh well I like it!
This is like a Frankenstein version of successful romantic comedies. Only this doesn't have life. The dialogue just *loves* itself too much. Like, "love creates this euphoria that keeps you stupid" and such tripe is peppered throughout. And, there is no shortage of "aw, isn't that cute" moments. Now, maybe the gals love these moments? Like, isn't that cute that she's dancing in public and he's all embarrassed! Oh joy. And when the relationship takes a turn for the worse (which is inevitable, of course), it is for a ridiculous reason. The writer seriously needs to get out and date more. At the very lease, interact with women. That would be a start.
In the end, the director is probably 22 to 26 and this is what he thinks love should be. ... A cut and paste of seen it/done it romantic comedies. This of course, because he fell in love himself and was disheartened by the experience and darn it, he's going to make it all better by making this movie. Yawn.
Hm...I'm not too sure whether I liked it or not.The acting was terrible, the plot was terrible and I got totally confused at the end.I mean...was this still in the past tense or present :S
I absolutely adored the movie. However, I'll admit it was not Freddie's best work. And that fish face he made everytime he kissed Julia? I laughed at that, but loved the movie.
I thought this movie was really good. Classic story of "First Love" and heartbreak. I guess it depends how certain people relate to the story. I can relate and that's why I enjoyed the movie. Scenes in New York City were a nice bonus.
If you are calling this the worst film that you have ever seen then you obviously have not seen a lot of films, or the choices at your local rental store absolutely suck.
Granted, this is not a great film by anyones standards but there is an inherant sweetness about it that lets you forget for the next ninety minutes or so that the dialogue is going to be cheesy and the acting is going to be slightly stilted.
Cheesy dialogue, unrealistic characters, no originality or plot...it kills me that there's a supposed Jim Morrison channeling. His name is too damn good for this piece of tripe.
it probably is one of the worst movies i've ever seen. i saw in snatches actually, and i didn't enjoy it at all. the supposedly "cute" parts weren't really so. some things just didn't seem to work for it like they do with other movies dealing with the same theme.
