Disobeying Orders In... OuTeR SpAcE!

Would they really have sent that cocky young guy in space if he was liable to ignore what he was told and go push random buttons on the satellite? I thought it was a bit predictable and unbelievable. I'd rather that crazy satellite found some other reason to begin falling apart/launching.

This bothered my too. I decided that with all teh veiled references to "our man" on the trip, that Ethan was told he was operating under higher orders and would likely be pardoned from any orders given to him by what Gerson considered to be a retired pilot who was a PR stunt in space.

He was acting on secret orders from Gerson.

Here's my take. Gerson and Ethan are both on the Russian payroll, so to speak. Remember Gerson telling the Russian general, ". . .our man is up there. . ."

I have always wondered why the flight director didn't order him to stop what he was doing. Also, did Gerson know what an idiot he'd sent up there?

Well, in the immortal words of Darkwing Duck, 'Lets get DANGEROUS!'
