Marcia Gay Harden's hair
Her hair style in this film has always bothered me. It looks like she is a Vulcan or Romulan from Star Trek. It just looks silly. Whoever did hair and makeup on this film did a horrible job with her.

shareNowhere near as bad as Anton Chigur.
shareNah - it was kinds retro 1950s pinup girl. Not too terrible. She did wind up looking like an attractive friend of mine (an older version).
shareI didn't care for it either. Some people can pull this look off. She is not one of them.
"Who knows, Mr. Gilbert, what a limit really is." Lincoln Bond, "Toward The Unknown", 1956
I think it was an attempt at making her look like a serious scientist.

Actually, this is not the only movie where she harbors this peculiar hairstyle - which befits her rather well, I find. Simply check "Pollock" - same year (2000), granted, but also "Mona Lisa Smile" (2003). It looks more like a sort of a Cleopatra-look that was all the rage after Liz immortalized it ...
She's not bad looking at all with that Egyptian coupe :-)
Reminded me of the actress from Galaxy Quest. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177789/combined
Missi Pyle, I believe... http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1091208960/nm0701512

I agree - when I started to watch this movie today (after not seeing it for a few years) I thought that the look was similar to one of the aliens in Galaxy Quest!

Came here to comment the same thing. It looked like she was rocking a mullet. God awful haircut.
