Perfect balance of smart and heart
My girlfriend made me watch this, and I was not looking forward to it in the least. I figured it would be just another sappy "feel-good" fantasy with science fiction elements.
It didn't take long before I realized how wrong I was. I got so involved that I was actually taking notes on what had happened to whom, and when, and what I thought would happen, and how the various events would affect the future... and, of course, the inevitable paradoxes. Mentally, I had an absolute blast piecing it all together. But what really hit me was how much soul the film had. The relationship between father and son coexisted flawlessly with the elaborate Rubik's Cube of events that unfolded, and it was the glue that held everything together. The ending, I'm not ashamed to say, got me choked up.
Who else was completely blindsided by how good this was?
