Connection to 'Lost' ? (spoilers if you haven't seen movie or 'Lost')

Watching this over the weekend, I realized that "Jack Shepard," the Nightingale Killer, is Matthew Fox's character's name on the TV show "Lost." Not only that, the show also stars Elizabeth Mitchell, and Season 5 deals extensively with time travel (and when certain characters are trapped in a different era). Spooky especially considering this movie premiered four years before "Lost" began its television run.

shawn doyle who played the Nightingale Killer was a guest star on lost last year also. very weird indeed

And instead of being named Julia, Elizabeth Mitchell's character on LOST is "Juliet".

Take my advice. Watch "Stella". It's hysterical. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443409/

J.J. Abrams was an uncredited co writer I believe for this project. This explains the character names on Lost, using some of the same actors/actresses. It also sets the trend Abrams has with his infatuation with time travel and altering the present/future, like shown in season 5 of Lost and the new Star Trek movie.

It's very surprising that JJ Abrams worked on this movie, as the movie is very good (just seen it for first time in TV) unlike most of JJ's stuff which is utter rubbish.

I find it a little hard to believe that JJ Abrams would not be credited if he helped write this, unless he didn't want to be, but maybe.

Also, as for another connection, in this movie, Elizabeth Mitchell's character is a nurse and on Lost she is a fertility doctor.

My husband and I were watching the movie last night and we caught the Jack Shepard name and went, whoa!

It's actually not that hard to believe. The WGA has rules in place for how screenwriting credits are applied. So even if a writer worked on a screenplay and was paid for their work, they may not receive credit unless a significant portion of their work made it into the final version. Or something along those lines. I don't know the full details, but I do know that their process has received criticism for being too arbitrary.

While there are similarities, the way the two works deal with time travel could not be any more different.
