What does the tumbling helmet remind me of?

The firefighting and father-son aspects of the story remind me of some other movie, but I can't place it.

That movie begins with a firefighter letting his young son ride along with him on an emergency call. (Don't blame me, it happens in the movie.) As the boy watches from the street, the father is killed in a gas explosion on an upper floor of a building. A fireball bursts out of a window, and then the father's helmet comes tumbling down, down, down till it bounces on the street in slow motion.

I don't mean to say that either movie copied the other. I'd just like to get this off my mind. Any help will be appreciated.

Backdraft?

Yeah, I think it was Backdraft. Donald Sutherland was awesome, "I like to burn them!"

Remember Rabbit Ears with tin foil?
