What's the scariest moment for you?

For me, for whatever reason, it's when Heather is giving her drippy-nosed monologue and a feint branch cracks in the middle of it, and her eyes just instantly dart towards it to look off into the distance...really bothers me for some reason.

The very end. Josh standing in the corner. Just enough pause, then... WHACK!!

reply

hootiehome That was Mike in the corner, not Josh.

reply

Ah, thanks!!

My favorite moment was mentioned already in this thread. But its definitely when you begin to hear the noise of kids playing in the middle of the night.

Just thinking about where they are and the fact that they have not seen anybody or anything in the last few days only to be hearing kids laughing in the middle of the night. Sends chills down my back everytime.

For me, it was the part when Heather and Mike are in the tent (after Josh has gone apparently missing), and they hear his screams in the middle of the night. Creepy!

reply

Has to be the tent scene. I didn't find out 'til years later that they had someone outside pressing down on the tent. It's hard to make that out in the film with the shaky camera work. And another detail is the creepy groaning sound made by whatever is outside, which, again, is something I didn't pick up on until being told exactly where to expect it.

*Spoilers*

I agree with you. The fear in Heather's apology scene is so genuine. Every time I watch it, I wish they would have made it out. Oh, and the tent shaking and the children's laughter in the distance. The house at the end, etc. Whenever it was dark out pretty much.

reply

The ending, of course.

I agree with the general consensus: The very end scene.

It is interesting to me the divide between fans and haters of this. I don't fault those who dislike this movie but when it is for anything other than "that damn shaky cam" then I am curious. Not that I think that this is some perfect movie or anything but I am equally mystified by people who don't like Jaws.

The children’s handprints on the walls inside the house.
