A scene from Roger Corman's "The Pit and the Pendulum" was re-enacted in this.
I was watching the other Vincent Price starring film "The Pit and the Pendulum," and I noticed "House on Haunted Hill" borrows a lot from that one as they did the original "HoHH." The scene in "Pit" when the ghost of his supposed dead adulterous wife is mocking Price as he's lying on the floor in the basement was just like the scene in "HoHH" when his "ghost" wife is mocking him after she thinks he's dead lying on the floor of the basement just before Price turns the table on her in both films.
I guess you can say Corman's "Pit and the Pendulum" borrowed heavily from the original "House on Haunted Hill" as well. I never noticed that connection before.
