When the Psychlos made on the bet on how long Jonny would survice w/o his breathing mask. While he's running through the tunnels, one could see fires burning in a few shots, which would be impossible w/o oxygen.

The air on earth is only 20% oxygen. The other 80% includes gases which, were they present in higher concentrations, would be deadly to humans. That could be the situation in the dome.
