In the sense of "so bad it's good".
I own the DVD. I consider it a horrible movie. Just watching Travolta's insane performance is worth a look.

I heard that it was a horrible movie.

I'll definitely eventually rent it.

I think it's ALWAYS interesting & fun to get people's feedback about movies. 

It's worth a look, if you like campy stuff. If you like MST3K, you'll enjoy it.

Oh I LOVE Mystery Science Theater!

I used to watch it ALL of the time on Comedy Central along with Kids in the Hall.

Remember them? They were the Canadian answer to Saturday Night live! 

By all means then. Battlefield Earth is one of the most unintentionally hilariously awful movies I've ever seen in my life.

Far as unintentional comedy goes, 88 Minutes with Al Pacino is another gem.

Speaking of Mystery Science Theater; Mike, Bill and Kevin still do commentary on recent movies called Rifftrax. They have one for this movie and I could not stop laughing.

It actually is a very good movie.. however people dislike it for a number of erroneous yet valid reasons.

It might seem overacted.. I think that's an exaggeration or a misnomer, given the setting and the situation and the character profiles the way they acted was superb.. in many ways John Travolta's performance reminds me of the flair of John De Lancie playing Q in star trek.

Sure there's plenty of plotholes.. plenty.. but it's a great flick and extremely gratifying in many ways not least of which is the dialogue.. poor Psyclos, with their supreme egotistical superiority complex and competitive attitudes they instill into one another to the point they defeat each other.. it's fun to watch them give the humans the very things they'll need to overthrow their masters when the intention was to make them slaves.
