Is it wrong to like this movie?

I know it's terrible and quite possibly the worst film of all time, and yet I can't help but like it. Perhaps it's the possibility of what could have been. I'm reading the book now and it's fantastic. I can see why they wanted it made into a film and possibly a trilogy. I feel the execution was all wrong and the director blew it. I like it mind you, but for the wrong reasons

Barry Pepper was good in this thank goodness he was the main focus, because Travolta and Wittaker sucked. I did like the movie and would like to find a copy of it.

reply

Travolta and Whittaker acted their parts excellently, you just fail to comprehend the character psychology.

Yeah, I think the expectations were set too high, and people just wanted to not like a Scientology based film. Although, I think any film with a religious agenda will attract that type of negative attention. I'll never see this movie again, but I did like the overall idea of the story.

It's terrible in the camp cult quality kind of way as other "great" movies that have been produced.
It's silly for the "religious" backing and how it tanked at the box office.
It's FABULOUS for how it portrayed a bunch of crazy people trying to break into Hollywood at this level.
No. You are not wrong to like it. Just don't believe it is anything but a little piece of fluff that didn't get Scientology what they wanted. ... more fresh meat.

reply

Oh. And it revived platform shoes as a fashion accessory.

reply

No, it's not wrong at all. The only movies that are wrong to like are the Star Wars prequels.

reply

Yes it is, report for re-education.

reply

Theres no right or wrong of liking a movie.
